What Height of Swing Set Should I Get?

The height of a swing set may not be the first thing that comes to mind when shopping for your next backyard addition, but it definitely plays an important role in how you're going to enjoy your swing set for years to come! Here I'm going to give you all the ins and outs of all the different swing sets we offer at Component Playgrounds. We have three different options: 8', 10' and 12' tall.

8' Tall Swing Sets

Our 8' option is the smallest height we make. This is a great option if it will mainly be used by children. Teenagers and adults will most likely find this height to be too small. While this is our most budget-friendly option, one thing to keep in mind is if you get this for your kids when they're small, chances are they'll grow out of it at some point! With how long our swing sets last, you may want to consider on option that appeals to a wider range of ages.

10' Tall Swing Sets

Our 10' height is hands down our most popular height that we sell, and for good reason, too! This is going to appeal to all ages. It's small enough for little kids to enjoy, but it's large enough for teenages and adults to still have fun too! It's a great height to buy even if you only have little kids, because your swing set will still be around when those kids become adults.

There are a couple things to note with this height. If there are multiple components to the set you are buying (monkey bars, slides, etc.), only the swings themselves will be raised to the 10' height. Also, as you can see in the photos of this article, a lot of our 10' models need to have an extra support pole coming diagonally off the top rail. Both of these differences can be seen in the product photos listed on every product page.  If you have any questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to contact us!

12' Tall Swing Sets

For all those thrill-seekers out there, our 12' A-frames are the swing sets for you! These sets are the tallest we make. They're actually so large we need to add an extra support leg on each side of the A-Frame. While these swing sets do take up a lot of room, they're the closest thing you'll get to a roller coaster in your backyard! Since the chains are so long, it takes some extra effort to start swinging. For this reason, this height is best if it will mainly be used by teenagers and adults.

One Thing To Note

One thing to keep in mind with all of this: these heights are the height of the swing set after it has been installed and cemented into the ground. This means that the actual set itself will be taller than what it is listed as, because some of it will be below ground level!

And there you have it! We hope this little guide helps you in your buying process and research, but as always, feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Happy Swinging!
